“So this is goodbye,” my father said as we stopped beside a black Rolls Royce Cullinan.
I responded with a slight nod admiring the tiny smile beaming on his face. His eyes said it all, how much he was going to miss me.
“Just yesterday, you were so tiny when I carried you in my arms. Now my little boy has become a man ready to face the world. It happened so fast.”
I chuckled. “Yesterday was like twenty years ago, Dad.”
His smile deepened. “I’m proud of you, Damien, and I want you to always remember that no matter where you go, Woodland Pride will always be your home.”
I inhaled deeply.
“I look forward to you surpassing my legacy, tales of what you did with The Three Stars Triangle spread like wildfire. I know there’s more to come from you.”
“I won’t fail you,” I replied and he extended his arms wide for a hug.
“Live life, my boy,” he patted my back endearingly before we separated so I could face my mother who already had subtle tears entertaining her blue eyes.
