“Marianne,” I called as I wandered into the woods looking around in worry. It’s been close to an hour now and my mate hasn’t returned from the woods. I know she wanted fresh air but staying out this long wasn’t safe for her or even me.
“Marianne!” I yelled but the only sound I got in response was the hooting of owls. I stopped by a tree, leaning onto it and reliving our conversation. Maybe I was indeed foolish to have made those statements but this was my ugly reality now. If I don’t face judgment from Woodland Pride, I will live the rest of my life always running, a sad way of life.
If only there was another way, I would give anything just to have that reality. The wind hushed past me and a faint trail of blood graced my nostrils.
“Marianne!!” I yelled restlessly, breezing past the branches as I chased after the blood scent. As werewolves, it was easy to distinguish between the smell of blood of a human and an animal. This one tormenting my nose was a human’s.
