Jaymee caught sight of her son, his eyes devoid of life, staring off into the distance. She approached him, a warm smile on her face. She resembled a mother hen tending to her little chick.
Jaymee appeared sincere, but beneath her facade lurked greed.
"What's on your mind, son?" she inquired.
Cesar, believing his mother genuinely cared for him, turned to face her. His expression was sour. "I'm thinking about tomorrow's party."
Jaymee's eyebrows shot up, though she maintained her composure. "And what specifically is bothering you? Something's clearly bothering you."
Cesar ran his fingers through his blonde hair, feeling suffocated. He loosened his necktie. "It's my sister's engagement."
Jaymee smirked inwardly. Just as she suspected, it was about her stepdaughter once again.
"Is Dad really gonna announce my sister's engagement to Mr. Thomas Huxley in front of all the guests?" Cesar asked, clearly ticked off.
