Unravelling
I found Dante working on a computer in the control room. It seemed he’d taken over there since Jace had been withdrawing from everyone and everything.
He’d also been unusually quiet since that night—the one Xavius was so unkindly taken from us.
He definitely left an emptiness in his wake when he passed away. Everyone was different.
Things changed between me and Dante too. It was a strange kind of understanding of some sorts. We barely talked, but in passing, he wouldn't say a word to me, but pull me into his big arms and hold me for a few moments as if he was afraid I’d vanish.
I’d let him, because goodness knows it was the most comforting thing I had. If anything, I was convinced he knew it was what I needed somehow.
Other than those few rare communication exchanges, we didn't talk or hang out. Since Drakan was now dead, Dante didn’t grind me with strenuous workouts in the most ungodly hours of the mornings.
