I walked into the infirmary finding my beautiful wife lying stretched out on her back on one of the beds while Anabelle rubbed something on her bare belly.
“What’s going on here?” My brows knitted together. “I thought you’re going to wait for me so we could do this together?”
Lisa smiled, but it was a weak one. “Just checking to make sure everything’s okay. You’re home early. Did you find her?”
“Clearly not.” I sighed, grabbing a chair and plucking it down beside the bed. “Something is wrong. I can feel it. What’s up, love? Talk to me.”
I took her hand and laced my fingers with her.
She swallowed. “I’m bleeding. I’m not supposed to bleed.”
“But sometimes it’s normal,” Anabelle quipped. “It’s not clots, so you shouldn’t worry.”
Lisa smiled at Anabelle. “Glad you’re paying attention.”
“I need to if I want to become a full-time nurse.”
“We didn’t find Azalea. But we managed to find Drakan’s cellphone,” I said.
Lisa tried to sit up, but Anabelle pushed her back down and clucked her
