A New Divide
Anabelle.
One month later…
I stuck my head inside my closet, checking one final time if I had everything taken out of it before I closed it shut, releasing a heavy breath. “It looks like I’ve got everything.”
“Are you sure?” Lisa asked, sitting on my old bed. It had been stripped from bedding, the mattress bare. Dante mentioned he was turning it into a guest room until, or if, I decided to return at some point.
I didn't know if I would. I had no other plans other than completing my degree and enjoying the full, college experience. I hoped to make some friends, maybe even get lucky and meet a cute boy.
Who knows. Maybe I’d end up getting a place with my new friends.
Okay, so I was a little too optimistic, but could you blame me? I’ve never really had much of a life, thanks to my now dead, lame excuse of a dad. Dante did the best he could, and I’ve been locked up here most of the time.
I would have gone out and made friends, but I couldn't bring them back here, so what was the point?
