Juliet took a deep breath, her hand trembling as she reached out and grasped Caleb’s hand. Her eyes met his, and in that moment, a silent understanding passed between them.
Caleb was momentarily taken aback, his expression shifting from anger to shock and then to a determined resolve.
Juliet's voice was barely a whisper, but it carried the weight of her decision. "I can’t stay here, Caleb. I’m sorry."
Daniel, still on the floor, his face contorted with anger and pain, could hardly believe what he was hearing. He struggled to his feet, wiping the blood from his lip, and glared at Juliet with a mix of desperation and fury. "Juliet, don’t do this. Don’t leave me. You know he can’t give you what I can."
Juliet shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "I can’t live like this anymore, Daniel. I need to be free. I need to feel safe."
Daniel’s face twisted with rage. "Safe? With him? He’s the one who ruined everything! He’s the reason we’re like this!"
