VALERIA’S POV
Tony's hand landed lightly on my head in a familiar, teasing slap. "You did the right thing, kid."
I didn’t need to ask what he was talking about. It was obvious—Elijah.
But I wasn’t in the mood to dwell on that. I had already made my choice. There was no use thinking about what-ifs.
"I didn’t really do anything," I muttered, shrugging it off. "It was pretty clear. I just helped him see things for what they were."
Tony gave me a knowing look. "Still—"
"It’s fine, Tony," I cut him off, my voice firmer than before. "My priority is making sure my friends are safe and happy. That’s it." I exhaled, running a hand through my hair. "Now, can we focus back on the main task at hand?"
He studied me for a second before nodding, taking the hint. "Yeah, well… I had to ask around and pull some connections to figure out what’s really going on in that facility."
I straightened, all my focus snapping back to him. "And? Did you find anything?"
