Chapter 90: I MUST RETURN

Gary caught her scent long before Xina reached the door, but he remained focused on concluding his discussion with the dragon shifter. The matter at hand needed to be resolved before anything else, and Gary, as king, knew how important this issue was. However, a commotion by the door pulled his attention. The guards seemed to be engaged in a minor dispute with Gallahan, which made Gary’s gaze shift momentarily. He couldn’t ignore the growing tension. "We will agree on that," Gary said, nodding to Edward, the dragon shifter, before turning his back on him. Edward bowed respectfully but not without casting a sharp look at Gary’s retreating figure. His yellow eyes brimmed with emotions he hadn’t shown during their conversation. Gary opened the door and immediately strode toward Xina, who stood behind Gallahan, clearly uncomfortable. Without hesitation, he pulled her gently into his arms, hugging her briefly but firmly, as if reassuring her with his presence. "Have you seen the baby?"
