Chapter 31: THE BURN (2)
Gary knew this moment would come, and since he couldn’t mask his thoughts, there was no hiding it from anyone. The truth of it was evident, especially when someone was in the throes of their burn. The body exuded a scent that was sweeter, more intoxicating, and utterly irresistible.
This was why Gary had ordered all the zamudas to leave the building, fearing that some of them, still without their mates, might be driven to temptation. After all, it was their primal nature, and as warriors, they relied heavily on instinct in all matters.
It would have been chaos if any of them were nearby, for Gary wasn’t about to let any of them even glimpse his mate, let alone catch her scent while she endured this. The mere thought of it made his beast stir; if anyone dared to come close, the consequences would be unthinkable.
"Let me help you," Gary whispered into Xina's ear, his breath warm against her skin. His voice sent a shiver down her spine, causing her to gasp. "Let me help you, okay?"
