Chapter 199: Stepping Into Danger
"Do you intend to break my arm?" Xina shot a sharp glare at Canan, her voice laced with frustration. "You're going to snap my bones if you keep this up," she muttered under her breath.
Realizing his grip was far too strong, Canan eased his hold, but he didn’t release her completely. He wasn’t about to risk her running off again, not when the situation around them was fraught with unknown dangers.
"What are you doing out here alone? Don’t you understand how dangerous it is?" Canan’s earlier thoughts of Xina not being troublesome vanished. Right now, she was proving him wrong by creating the very chaos he'd feared.
"I needed to check something out, that’s why I called for you!" Xina retorted, trying to push forward once more, but Canan kept her firmly in place, refusing to let her wander any farther.
Canan scrunched his nose in annoyance, unimpressed by her flimsy excuse. "That doesn’t mean you can just wander off without any protection," he grumbled, his tone thick with disapproval.
