Chapter 188: A Leap of Faith
Xina clung to the edge of the window, peering down at the abyss that yawned beneath her. The fireflies that had led her to this precarious ledge now seemed like tiny beacons of hope, despite their mysterious nature. The distance to the ground was daunting, but Xina’s options were quickly diminishing. The roar of chaos from inside the house grew louder, a cacophony of voices and distress that made her stomach churn.
She couldn’t stay here. The intruders—whatever they were—had no intention of harming anyone but her. Xina’s thoughts raced back to her days in the grim confines of Edward's prison. The memories of those dark months were still fresh, and the prospect of reliving such a nightmare was unbearable.
"What am I supposed to do?" she muttered to herself, her voice trembling with both fear and frustration. She felt cornered, as if life were pressing her into a narrow path with no exit. The only route was down, and even that seemed perilous.
