Chapter 125: FINDING MY WAY OUT
Xina liked this part of the palace—the quiet corridors, the guards who pretended they weren't there, allowing them privacy. The serenity of the night enveloped her, and the cold wind gently kissed her face. But what she loved most was the way Gary carried her through these halls. She felt special, almost as if she were living in a dream. Never had she imagined herself dressed in such a beautiful gown, walking with her own king under the moonlight, before ascending the stairs toward one of the palace towers.
"What do you want to show me?" Xina asked with a spark of excitement in her voice as Gary took her to the top of the tower. She was grateful he had decided to carry her—she wasn’t sure she could have made it in time if she had to climb all those stairs on her own.
"Something I wasn't able to show you on your birthday," Gary replied, his voice gentle yet tinged with regret.
