“Open that safe,” the President ordered. “I don’t care what methods you have to use. Just get it done.”
“Yes, sir,” the voice responded, understanding the implied authorization for whatever means necessary.
The president ended the call, letting the phone drop onto the bed beside him. The weight of the situation pressed down on him, heavier than the injuries that kept him in this hospital bed.
Years of careful planning and meticulous separation between his public persona and his role as the leader of the Dark Hand were now in jeopardy.
