Chapter 8 HER FEARS
REYNOLD
After getting the much-needed information about the white snow Alpha and his pack, Reynold decided to set out with his men.
Arriving at white snow pack with his beta and some of his followers, he felt different the moment he got into the pack house.
His wolf had gone crazily excited for reasons he couldn't tell. He was warmly welcomed by the Alpha and his pack members.
They didn't waste time getting into business the moment he came. Fortunately, Alpha Blake had promised to be of help to him in searching for those unknown assassins.
Reynold appreciated the help Alpha Blake was willing to give him—not that he trusts him to the maximum, but for the reason that his investigations about him came out positive, he decided to give him the benefit of the doubt by trusting his help.
They were each given an executive guest room, which they resided in for the time being since the pack house was impressively gigantic and spacious inside.
Later that night, he decided to attend the party prepared for him, hoping to find a lady that would catch his fancy. Also, owing to how anxious his wolf had become ever since they came to the pack, he wished to find someone to stretch his muscles.
Just as he was in the party hall sipping his cocktail wine, he suddenly perceived a faint smell, which was the scent of roses and plums, and Reynold's wolf began jumping for joy in his head.
Reynold started tracking the sweet scent from his table down to the dance floor, where he saw her standing and smiling brightly at him. The scent came strongly from her, and his wolf screamed the words "MINE!", to his ears.
Happiness shot through his system—the joy of finally meeting his mate. She looks so beautiful in the dress; her eyes shone so brightly that Reynold could not resist the mate bond that was pulling him to this little lady in front of him.
Seeing her smile gave him the idea that she felt it too, so without wasting too much time, he hastened his steps to her and embraced her in a very tight hug, inhaling her scent.
Finally, he has found his mate and Luna. This has been something he has always wanted for years, and he got on a platter of gold by coming to white snow pack.
It seemed his Luna was a wild one too as she took him into a secret alley where she kissed him so passionately. As they kissed, Reynold suddenly didn't feel the scent come strongly, but he thought it was because he had found her.
He couldn't afford to lose her now that he'd found her; the excitement he felt made him forget about his very existence and the reason he was here in the first place.
He thought his wolf would let him do whatever he pleased as he withdrew back into his shell. Well, Reynold took the lead if his Wolf's action was to give him permission to bond with their mate.
He later found out during the night that her name was Victoria and as the goddess would have it, she turned out to be the daughter of Alpha Blake.
This gave him much excitement, knowing his Luna must be very capable, being the daughter of an Alpha and his mate as well.
She took him to her room, but the scent was entirely different from what he had initially perceived, but still, he didn't care; he knew she was his mate because even his wolf recognised her as his mate.
His mate kept him company all through the night as she took the lead in getting them on the bed. Of course he appreciated this; he had wanted to get someone laid. Seeing his mate give him herself on a platter of gold made him mad with passion, he immediately took her and in the heat of the passion, he marked her.
Suddenly, he felt a strange pain in his heart, which greatly surprised him. Why did he suddenly feel such pain after marking his mate? He asked himself.
Still, he pushed the questions to the back of his head and continued on the sexual ride with his mate.
The next day, Reynold woke up in pain. This was all strange to him; he had never expected to feel such pain after finding and marking a mate. Why was his different? He wondered.
He thought of the appropriate thing to do, and that was to get his mate back to his kingdom as soon as possible. Now he had become closer to the white snow pack, which meant that they were strongly involved in his mission now.
Having a mate from white snow simply meant even his mate would become a target for his enemies pretty soon. He had to take her back with him and protect her in the best way possible.
In a few days, preparations were made for his wedding to Victoria, and he informed some trusted allies whom he invited to grace the occasion.
His beta Stanley was pleased to know that he had finally found his mate.
When the day of the wedding finally arrived, he came back to white snow pack in order to get his mate, but strangely, his wolf became nervous like the very first time he met Victoria.
As he was about to get into the pack house, the smell of roses and plums hit his nostrils so hard that he traced the scent to a window on the second floor.
This became confusing for Reynold; the last time he perceived this scent was the night he found her, but he noticed the scent disappeared the moment they left the hall.
What does this mean? He took his time staring at the window, curiosity building up inside him. That was because he remembered his mate's room was on the uppermost floor, or could it be that she was watching him from there?
That could be the case, he thought, before getting into the house. During the wedding, for no reason he didn't feel that much elated as he had anticipated.
His mate took a glance at him now and then; it could be that she had noticed how low-spirited he suddenly became. She held on tight to him and Reynold couldn't help but inhale her to confirm this scent of roses, but that wasn't what he perceived.
This smell was more like primroses, but it didn't give off an intoxicating scent like the roses he perceived earlier on. What could possibly be going wrong? He wondered.
Later that night, Reynold felt restless; he could tell from how down his wolf became that there was something amiss.
For reasons he couldn't tell, he let his mate go to sleep without touching her that night. He needed to be by himself and think; maybe a little run might help.
Reynold came down to the entrance of the pack house in the middle of the night, it was his luck that the road leading to the woods was just a step away. Just as he was about to approach the area, he saw Someone run at full speed into the woods. Strangely, the scent of roses passed through his nostrils quickly.
What the fuck! That scent was coming from the person he saw getting into the woods. Could that be his mate? But what is she doing out here? He remembered tucking her in before he left the room.
Without further ado, he walked back to the room, only to find his mate sleeping very soundly. How strange, he thought.
Curiosity ate up Reynold, as he was hell-bent on knowing who the silhouette he found in the woods was.
Quickly, he ran into the woods, looking for a trace with which he could track the person down, but there was none.
Suddenly, he perceived the faint smell of roses. This made his wolf more restless and Reynold ran in his human form, not having the time to shift since he could still make good use of himself without having to shift to his wolf.
The deeper he got into the woods, the more faint the scent became. He finally came to a spot in a particular area where the scent seemed to have stopped too.
He searched around the area, but there was no way of tracking down this person; the only footprint he saw was that of a wolf, and a big one at that.
This was extremely strange because the silhouette he had seen was huge but looked like a tiny lady or girl? He couldn't even tell.
He made whoever was in the woods understand that he knew she was there, expecting the person would be bold enough to show her face, but she never did.
This confused Reynold even further; it has never happened in history that he could not trail the scent of a werewolf, but this particular werewolf isn't to be joked with.
By the way, the fact that she had her scent and tracks very well hidden made him understand that she wasn't just an ordinary wolf.
But if there was an extraordinary wolf in White snow pack, then he should have known when his Gamma and Delta brought him the information.
What could he be missing? He asked himself. He knew very well about the Alpha's information and also that of his daughters....Wait a minute, he knew the Alpha has twin daughters which means his mate has a twin, but how come he didn't see her around?
This was strange; he knew fully well she was in the pack, and she wouldn't dare disrespect him so as not to show her face when he came.
Could it be that she was that disrespectful just like he had heard? Well, tomorrow he would ask for her immediate presence before he leaves.
With that, Reynold left the woods and headed back to the pack House.
VEGA
She breathed an air of relief the moment the Lycan Alpha left.
She still couldn't understand why he had to follow her all the way to the woods. Fortunately, she hid her scent and covered her tracks thanks to the help of Jackie.
What would she have done if he had caught her?
She stayed in the woods for two more hours, still afraid that he hadn't left and might just be lurking around somewhere, waiting for her to show herself. The mere thought of it made her shiver in fear.
After the two hours had elapsed, she slowly shifted back to her human form, carried her belongings, and headed back to the pack house.
As usual, she passed through her secret window and landed hard on the floor of her room. Relief watched over her as she managed to get back to the pack house without getting caught.
Vega slept for many hours, even when the day was far gone and the rays of the sun penetrated her room.
The hard bang on her room door woke her up in shock. Vega frowned, pulling her hair in frustration.
"What now...." she said, getting up from her bed. She waited for a response, but none came. Who could that be? She wondered.
Whoever it was clearly wasn't Victoria because she knew how loud her sister could be.
The sleep from her face immediately cleared off as she rushed to her door. Opening it, she was shocked to see her father at her doorpost.
His expression held confusion and a little anger.
"Good...morning, dad," She managed to say. His coming personally to her room was pretty strange because it was actually the first time.
"The Lycan King requests your presence, immediately."
Vega suddenly stared at her father in horror. She gasped for breath as her breath seemed to have seized the moment her father said the words.
"Why?" She asked as her hands suddenly became sweaty, her heart pounded erratically in fear.
