CHAPTER FIFTY DEATH
As Luke stepped through the front door of their home, he was met with an eerie silence that hung heavy in the air. The usual warmth and cheerfulness that greeted him upon his return was conspicuously absent, replaced instead by an unsettling stillness that sent a shiver down his spine.
"Hana?" Luke called out, his voice echoing in the empty hallway. There was no response, save for the faint hum of the refrigerator and the distant ticking of the clock. A sense of foreboding settled over him as he made his way further into the house, his heart pounding in his chest.
As he entered the living room, Luke found Hana sitting on the couch, her eyes distant and unfocused as she stared blankly at the wall. Her normally vibrant demeanor had been replaced by a hollow emptiness that struck him to the core.
"Hana, what's wrong?" Luke asked softly, crossing the room to kneel beside her. He reached out to touch her shoulder, but she flinched away as if his touch burned like fire.
