Her father was still kneeling over the broken clock when April paused near the doorway to his office. Her hands were in fists, and she focused hard on keeping her back straight and her head high. She'd heard everything between her father and sister. She wasn't surprised when Mae bolted out in fear. Who had their father become? Someone unrecognizable–that much she was certain of.
April quietly moved to the edge of the office and watched her father mourn the token of her mother. Narrowing her eyes, all sge felt was disdain. She couldn't decide if his mournful tone was sincere or not. If it was, she didn't believe he deserved to mourn their mother so, considering the neglective role he might have played in her death. April narrowed her eyes.
