22. The Wedding Caper: Chaotic Cover-Up
I anxiously waited for the sleeping pills to take effect, but to my surprise, Carla remained conscious. The minutes felt like hours as I watched the clock tick away, my confusion growing with every passing second. Something had gone terribly wrong, and I couldn't understand why the pills hadn't worked as expected. Meanwhile, Carla remained fully awake and alert, and my heart raced as I tried to figure out how to proceed.
