Dorothy's breathing hitched, she froze for two seconds, and then turned to leave.
Her movements were swift and decisive, not beating around the bush.
Sebastian was not in a hurry either. Squinting, he gave the maid a wink. The maid understood and hurriedly turned into a private room.
Suddenly, the empty hall was left with just two people.
Dorothy, with her head down, rushed without choosing her path. Her back was straight, seeming steady, but in reality, she was in complete chaos, not knowing where to go.
Her heart pounded as she prayed incessantly that Sebastian would not recognize her.
Reaching the end of the hallway, Dorothy surprisingly found it to be a dead-end?
So were elevators the only way to move between floors? What a ghostly design, it had no sense to it at all.
Facing the wall, she stopped. Dorothy didn't wish to turn around and meet her doom. Just as she was worrying about what to do, the faint sound of Sebastian's footsteps approached from behind.
