Chapter 64
I rushed to the hospital and registered as Evan’s patient.
After queuing for a long time, it was finally my turn to see Evan. He glanced at me, then pointed to a chair next to him. “Sit here.”
“Okay.” I obediently sat down beside him while Evan called in the next patient.
Evan was very serious at work. He wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses and looked very studious. As I listened to him talk to his patients, I became more sure about one thing. A man like him didn’t have to compete with Henry for Laurel. Evan deserved a better woman. Why did he end up so miserable because of her?
About ten minutes later, Evan said, “You can go now.”
I didn’t ask any more questions before I left.
Half an hour later, Lee came to pick me up at the hospital entrance. When I got into the car, he asked with concern, “Madam, what’s wrong?”
“I had some heart palpitations,” I replied casually.
“Have you done a checkup?” Lee asked again.
“Yeah. I probably didn’t get enough rest.” I tried to brush it off.
