Josh felt regretful for the first time as he watched Oliver lying on the ground. It wasn't regret for trying to stop Janice's wedding, but he regretted bringing his parents along.
Even if he were beaten to a pulp or worse, he could accept it, knowing he had tried. But if his parents had to bear the consequences with him, that would be a far greater regret in this life.
The villagers observed the scene, and rather than sympathizing with the Tate family, they blamed Josh for being inconsiderate and wondered why Oliver had acted so foolishly. They thought it absurd for him to disrupt someone else's joyous occasion as if he was just asking for trouble.
However, the respected village chief felt this had gone too far. He turned to Hector and said, "Let Caesar vent his frustrations, but don't let it go too far. It will only make things harder to handle later."
