Chapter 29 - Adjusting to the Barracks
Ella jolted awake, her body drenched in sweat and her heart racing. The dream's remnants clung to her like a heavy fog, making it hard for her to distinguish between the terrifying visions she had just experienced and reality.
Struggling to breathe, Ella sat up in her small bed, clutching the thin blanket to her chest. The dream had been so real, so vivid, with Damien's face looming large in her mind, his hand extended as if to save her, only to be juxtaposed with Luna Katherine's eerie presence and the whispered cry for assistance.
She shook her head, attempting to push the unsettling pictures away.
“I dreamt of this myself” she told herself. But the worry persisted no matter how many times she said that.
She felt uneasy not only because of the dream's substance but also because of its intensity, which made her wonder if her subconscious was being deceitful.
