CHAPTER NINETY-NINE LEANING ON AN ENEMY
Daphne's POV
Sasha muttered something under her breath, but nobody paid her any attention. It was as if she didn't exist. The bond between us, the shared determination and love, made her petty complaints seem insignificant.
As I looked around at the faces of our pack, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. We were battered, beaten, but not broken. We had each other, and as long as we held onto that, we had a chance.
"Stay strong," Javion said, his voice carrying a note of command. "Stay hopeful. We will find a way out of this darkness."
And in that moment, despite everything, I believed him. With all my heart.
Jacob’s face was pale with anger. “Where is Miranda?” he demanded, his voice shaking.
I swallowed hard, feeling the weight of his fear. “She’s in the hard labor department. They’re making her work, and it’s... it’s not good.”
Jacob’s eyes widened with fury. “What? They’re making her work like that? She’s just a kid!”
