DAPHNE'S POV
As the two rogues dragged me through the forest and toward the pack’s gate, I tried to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over. My body ached from the rough treatment, but my heart hurt more.
All I could think about was Javion—his pain, his suffering, and the knowledge that I had failed him.
When we reached the gate, my thoughts were interrupted by a figure standing there, waiting for us. My heart sank as I recognized Sasha. She stood with an air of authority, her posture stiff and her expression hard. As I was brought closer, our eyes met, and she held my gaze with an intensity that made my skin crawl.
I didn’t say anything at first, just stared at her, trying to read her face. I could see the coldness in her eyes, a stark contrast to the Sasha I once knew. What was she doing here? Why was she with Xander? The questions swirled in my mind, but one thing was clear—she was definitely planning something, and it wasn’t good.
