CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FOUR RUN, DAPHNE... RUN!
Daphne's POV
The first light of dawn seeped into the cold, stone room, pulling me from a restless sleep. My body ached, but my mind was sharper than ever.
I knew I had to find a way out of this nightmare. The creak of the door jolted me fully awake. I saw Xander's wolves approaching me, their eyes filled with a mix of menace and duty.
Panic surged through me. “Let me go!” I shouted, my voice echoing off the walls. They ignored me, their hands rough as they grabbed my arms.
Adrenaline spiked through my veins. I twisted, yanking my arm free, and with all the force I could muster, I kicked one of them square in the chest.
He stumbled back, giving me the opening I needed.
I bolted. My feet pounded against the cold floor as I dashed through the narrow corridor.
My heart raced, and my breath came in quick, desperate gasps. The shouts of the wolves echoed behind me, growing louder as they realized I was escaping.
