CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINETEEN A LONG WAY FROM HOME
Daphne's POV
I struggled against the wolf’s hold, but my energy was nearly depleted. Xander walked toward me slowly, his eyes never leaving mine.
“I knew you wouldn’t be able to outrun us forever,” he said, his tone almost smug. “You should have known better than to try.”
My heart sank as I realized there was no more escape. Tears streamed down my face, mixing with the dirt and sweat. I was completely at his mercy now, and the fear of what might come next overwhelmed me.
Xander crouched down in front of me, his eyes cold and unforgiving. “You’re a long way from home, Daphne,” he said, almost sympathetically. “And you’re not going anywhere.”
His wolves closed in and I felt a deep, gnawing despair.
I glared at Xander, trying to keep the rage in check. “What do you want from me?” I demanded, my voice trembling with both fear and anger. My heart was still racing, and the pain in my arm throbbed intensely. Xander’s face twisted into a smirk, and he stepped closer to me.
