Chapter Seventy-Two Settled Bills
I walked out of Thomas's room, closing the door quietly so as not to wake him up.
Despite how heavy his medication was, I still didn't want to take the chance of him waking up, and after I closed the door, I made my way to the doctor's office in case there was anything I needed to do.
I may not be Thomas' wife anymore, but he is still my child's father; after our conversation today, I considered him a friend.
I met with the doctor on the way before I reached his office; he must have been coming from his office, too, I thought.
"Oh, doctor, thank God I met you on my way; I was just coming to your office."
"Good, you met me here then because I am just leaving for surgery. Is everything okay, Mrs. Miles?"
"Please, Regina is fine; I am not Thomas' wife anymore."
