The dishes gradually arrived, and the group ate and chatted.
The evening breeze by the river carried the coolness of summer. They sat, relaxed in their chairs, eating and chatting, utterly carefree.
Dinner was over by a little past nine, and they left the restaurant.
"Mr. Lawson, Naomi, Gwendolyn and I will head off first," Dominic said, leaning on Gwendolyn for support. His face was flushed from drinking, but he was not completely drunk.
Scott responded with a faint grunt of acknowledgement.
Naomi glanced at Dominic's slightly tipsy but cheerful face with a smile forming on her lips.
Looking at Gwendolyn, she said with a smile, "Gwendolyn, I'll come to your place early tomorrow morning."
Gwendolyn, slightly tipsy herself, replied, "Make sure to set your alarm. Tomorrow's a big day. You can't flake on me at the last minute."
Naomi sighed helplessly. "Even if I wanted to, you wouldn't let me."
"Of course not. I'm counting on you to catch the bouquet tomorrow," Gwendolyn teased
