Naomi did not behave like she did back in Herland, telling Scott what kids liked, what toys were available, and where to buy them. Instead, she took him directly to the store, picked out the toys, and made the purchase right away. Her approach was very purposeful. She wanted to get this done quickly, to shake off Scott as soon as possible. Since Scott's remark earlier that night, Naomi had been struggling to keep her emotions in check, trying hard to regain her composure. For her, this was actually quite difficult. It was not easy to unsettle a person who is usually calm, and it was even harder to calm them down again once they were unsettled. Scott noticed Naomi's urgency and simply made a sound of acknowledgment. It seemed like he did not notice her desire to escape quickly and be rid of him. When the driver saw the two of them coming out, he got out and opened the back door. Naomi and Scott got into the car, and as soon as they did, Naomi told the driver the address. T
