“I understand anger,” Emma said with a sigh. “I’m still angry. My mother didn’t leave but she may as well have. I know what it feels like to simultaneously love and hate someone.”
A ding told them that they could remove their seatbelts.
“Are we flying already?” Emma asked sitting up.
“It would seem that way,” Jake said with a small smile.
“I missed take off,” she said, slumping back into her seat.
“Don’t worry, we’ll have to do it a couple more times before we’re done.” He squeezed her hand. “Why don’t you try to get some sleep and I’ll make sure you’re awake for the next take off.”
Emma sighed and settled herself again in the big, comfy seats, her eyes fluttering closed. “M’kay.”
