Chapter 121: True Identity
Natalie Silvestre sighed and put her hands behind her back. "I didn't think the engagement was such a big deal before. It just hit me today how serious it is."
As she spoke, she sighed again. "That's why I hadn't told my parents."
While talking, she couldn't quite meet Jeremiah Kenneth's eyes.
Jeremiah's expression shifted from shock to speechlessness, finally settling on sadness.
But he quickly realized he was performing for no one, as Natalie avoided looking at him.
Jeremiah took her hand. "So, what do we tell your parents?"
"Just tell the truth!" Natalie responded without hesitation.
Jeremiah looked surprised. "But that's not what you told your uncle. Won't they talk to each other?"
Natalie looked pained. "I was so focused on dealing with my uncle, I didn't think about my parents."
Pushing Jeremiah towards the car, she said, "Let's take it one step at a time. We can't do anything else now."
Even after getting in the car, Natalie kept her eyes shut tight.
Jeremiah sighed.
