When Lucien heard Daphne sobbing, he stopped squirming.
He couldn't believe how stupid Daphne was. She didn't even fight back after being deceived. At the very least, she should've made sure the bastard suffered for what he did.
But Daphne only cried for a couple of minutes before pulling herself together. She hugged Lucien close, confiding in him.
"I can't believe I actually fell for a scumbag like that. Still, I can't let this bother me. This little setback isn't going to break me. If he wants a divorce, fine! There are plenty of men who want me. I don't need him."
She continued, "And don't worry. When I leave, I won't abandon you here. From now on, you're my family. No matter what happens, we'll always stick together."
Lucien sneered. Being part of a family was the last thing he needed. To him, family was nothing but a burden.
