Donovan seethed. "I shouldn't have been here today!"
Xenia, however, felt a flicker of joy. "It's my fault for telling you this, Donovan. I thought by coming to school, you could make up with Noelle, and we could all live together as a family again like before. But who would've thought Noelle wouldn't appreciate what you did for her?"
"How can you say that? It's not that Noelle is ungrateful, but she clearly would've done well even without us." Lucas frowned. There was a subtle undertone in Xenia's words that made him oddly uncomfortable.
Xenia carefully asked, "Did I perhaps say the wrong thing again, Lucas?"
Dono interjected, "It's not your fault, Xeiva. Noelle's bad temper will catch up to her one day, and I'll wait to see how she handles it then!"
