Back at the hospital, Alex sat in a chair by Lisa's bed. They had just returned from a walk in the garden, a brief escape from the sterile walls and the beeping machines. Lisa lay back on the bed, her face pale but with a soft smile as she looked at Alex.
The doctor had advise her to take a rest and not move too much.
Alex felt relief cause he couldn’t come up with another small talk with Lisa.
He still felt annoyed by Lisa's sudden affection in the garden. The way she had touched his hands and cheek made him uncomfortable. Alex tried to hide his irritation, but it was difficult. He took a deep breath and looked at Lisa.
“I have to go,” he said coldly.
Lisa's smile faded, and she grabbed his hand, her grip surprisingly strong for someone so weak.
“Please, Alex,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “Stay for another hour.”
Alex frowned and shook his head, pulling his hand away. “I can't, Lisa. I have to go back to the company. I have work to do,” he said firmly.
