When I returned to the room, Cyrus immediately picked up on my dazed expression.
He flicked my forehead. "What happened? What did Mrs. Spencer want?"
"My mom said… she believes I'm her daughter."
Cyrus was caught off guard. "You sure you heard that right?"
"I'm sure. My mom said she believed me. I didn't mishear."
"What kind of person just… believes something like that?"
"She said she's been through it before. That's why she knows it's possible."
I shook my head lightly.
Until today, I had only ever seen her as Mom. But now, looking at her outside that role… she was incredible.
