Chapter 3
The demanding voice sounded somewhat familiar. Yvonne looked over and saw a woman with heavy makeup on her face standing in front of her. ‘Isn’t this Fiona’s best friend, Tina Hoffman?’
Tina was also shocked to see Yvonne. She must have mistaken Yvonne for a waitress, seeing her dressed in workwear. To her surprise, it was Yvonne instead.
“It’s you?”
Yvonne ignored her and tried to walk away with her food. Tina immediately snapped back to her senses and quickly stopped Yvonne from walking away. “So you’re a waitress here? Haha! That’s hilarious!”
“Is it that funny?” Yvonne retorted.
“Of course. Weren’t you arrogant in the past, Yvonne Yates? Tsk tsk tsk, I can’t believe how far you have fallen to end up as a waitress here. Karma is a b*tch, right? Now hurry up and fix me something to eat!”
Tina has the character of a villain. She had never liked Yvonne from the start and was envious of Yvonne’s beauty, innocence, and good life. Now that Yvonne was abandoned by Jackson and had ended up being a waitress, she could not pass up the chance to humiliate her.
Yvonne was disgusted by Tina’s expression and decided that arguing with a vile person like her has no benefit and will only bring her intelligence level down to Tina’s level. She tried to walk past away again, but Tina would not let her go. “Yvonne, how dare you ignore me again? Do you believe me that I can get you fired?”
“Get me fired? Ms. Hoffman, do you think you’re that important?”
“How dare you insult me?” Tina jumped up angrily. She had never dared do anything to Yvonne in the past because she was Jackson’s wife and Jackson was very protective of her. However, things had changed now. Without Jackson, she was nothing but a lowly waitress. Getting rid of her would be as easy as killing an ant.
“I’ll get the person-in-charge to fire you right now!”
“Tina, what’s going on?” a gentle voice interrupted them.
“Fiona, you’re here just in time. Look who it is!” Tina laughed mockingly as she pointed at Yvonne.
Yvonne looked up calmly at Fiona, who was taken aback by her presence. ‘What is Yvonne doing here?’
Despite the shock, Fiona remained calm. Instead, she smiled and said, “Sis!”
Yvonne looked at her coldly. “Miss, I think you’ve got the wrong person.”
“Sis, I know you blame me, but it’s not my fault. Jackson was the one who fell in love with me…”
Although three years had passed, Yvonne could still feel the hurt from the past that Fiona had brought up. Unwilling to pick on old wounds, Yvonne turned around and walked away.
Tina’s bravado had only grown with Fiona’s appearance. She stepped forward and grabbed hold of Yvonne. The juice in Yvonne’s glass splattered on herself, and she yelled, “Hey, why are you doing this to me?”
Tina had an evil look on her face when she yelled out. Yvonne knew that Tina wanted to frame her and get her fired. Tina still believed that she was a waitress working there.
Yvonne remained calm. If she was still the old Yvonne, she would have slapped Tina already, but she was no longer Jackson’s beloved Young Madam Miller. Suppressing her anger, she turned around once again to leave.
When Tina and Fiona realized that Yvonne was not going to fight back, they exchanged glances and suddenly grabbed Yvonne by the hair so that they could pour their red wine down her neck. The cold wine flowed down Yvonne’s back, soaking her clothes. Unintentionally or not, Tina somehow pushed Yvonne toward Fiona, and Fiona splashed wine onto Yvonne’s face.
Yvonne’s eyes burned with anger. She wanted to walk off quietly, but when she realized Tina was not going to let her go that easily, she was consumed by her anger.
Tina and Fiona were birds of a feather. If they were to continue attacking her in this manner, she would not be able to hold back anymore. After all, everyone has their limits. Tina’s tricks were the same as Fiona’s. They would continue to bring her down. Why should she play nice if they were hellbent on making her the villain?
Her anger had reached its peak, and Yvonne threw her plate of food onto Tina’s hair. Fiona screamed in shock because she did not expect Yvonne to fight back. Yvonne was a fan of spicy food, and her plate was filled with different sorts of spicy treats. The spicy gravy flowed down from Tina’s hair into her eyes, and it was indeed not a pleasant feeling. Tina screamed out loud and let go of Yvonne’s hair.
Ignoring Tina’s screams, Yvonne then slapped Fiona across the face. Fiona was stunned. She didn’t imagine Yvonne to have the audacity to strike back.
Tina was still in pain from the plate thrown at her face. There was gravy splattered everywhere, including her expensive evening gown. Her gown was designed specially by a well-known designer. It pained her heart to see that it was stained with gravy. Exasperated by the situation, she screamed out, “Help! Someone, help!”
