George paused when he saw Clara. He looked at her with a gentle smile, his expression filled with warmth.
Clara met his gaze, feeling as if he were a kind grandfather—although she didn't actually know what her own grandfather looked like. She didn't even know her parents, let alone her grandparents.
Bonnie smiled and introduced them. "George, this is Clara Fowler, my eldest grandson's wife. Clara, this is Mr. Hartz."
Clara stepped forward, extending her hand with a polite smile. "Mr. Hartz."
As Clara extended her hand, Bonnie was worried that George might not shake it, possibly leaving Clara feeling awkward.
When the Morris family first invited George to review the geomancy for them, he shook hands only with Bonnie. He greeted everyone else with a nod and a polite smile, but without extending a handshake.
To her surprise, George reached out and shook Clara's hand, saying with a meaningful tone, "Ms. Fowler, I've been looking for you for a while."
