The Verdict
Akalmesh dropped his hand, banging the gavel, and declared, "Acquitted."
The guard was stunned. "Huh? That's it?" It seemed a bit hasty, given the usual procedures.
The guard was contemplating offering some persuasion when Akalmesh intoned, "Also, publicize the verdict. If anyone disagrees, feel free to see me."
"... Yes, Your Honor." Swallowing his persuasions, the guard bowed deeply and responded, "I'll take care of it right away."
Once the guard left, quiet descended upon the interrogation room.
All that transpired seemed exceptionally smooth.
Lucille turned her head toward the direction of the Judge and asked, "Why?"
Lucille knew very well. Even if her murdering Fiona got acquitted, the process was unusually swift, half of it owing to the resolute judgment by this particular Judge and the other half due to his protection.
