Chapter Sixty-Three - Willow
The next morning I slipped out of the pack house before Chase woke up. I’d silently cried after he fell asleep to the realization that my dad wasn’t my dad.
I put on some boots and found myself wandering the woods where Derrick and I used to train. My body yearned to run the obstacle course and fight one-on-one with the other wolves.
I made it to the clearing and sat down in the middle of it. The trees drew a canopy above me. The sunlight hit my skin through the branches and I closed my eyes as I laid back against the dirt.
The wind fluttered over me like a blanket.
I missed this so much. I missed the old me. The one who was allowed to believe she could be whatever she wanted to be.
Even if it was a lie.
A twig snapped and I jerked to a sitting position. I expected to see Chase or Derrick, but I didn’t, I saw Regis.
My wolf immediately recoiled in disgust at the sight of him. He’d been running. Maybe he was on duty. I knew they put more guards out because of the trespassing.
