Chapter Forty-Six - Chase
Emilia was asleep in the cot I put in her cell when I locked the door behind me. It’d been a relief that she spoke to Willow and at least confirmed we weren’t chasing a ghost.
On the other hand, Emilia being allowed to track Rex was a slap in the face. It was a taunt. Letting a new rogue follow him was telling us they knew we were looking for them.
It put my wolf in a weird mood.
It made me feel scared. The truth of the matter was that I knew this was a possibility, and I wouldn’t go back and refuse Alpha Gerald’s request for me to find the pack.
Because this was, what Willow needed to heal. She needed to know that the rogue responsible for her mother’s death had been taken care of. That her mother didn’t die in vain.
Willow’s scent lingered in the air on the way up the staircase, but I couldn’t go back just yet. I unlocked my office and sat down at my desk. My leg bounced with nerves as I pulled out my cell phone and dialed my brother’s number.
