Chapter 1769
Joe and Skylar sat in silence for a long time; each lost in their thoughts.
It wasn't until Vivian had fallen asleep that Joe finally spoke, his voice barely audible. "Lately, Vivian keeps mentioning seeing Grandma Viola. I can't shake the feeling it's a sign. Like… one day, Vivian might follow her and leave us."
Skylar's chest tightened. She hadn't expected Joe to voice the same fear that had haunted her since Vivian first brought up Viola.
She knew Viola would never harm Vivian. But the thought lingered. How exactly would that happen?
"One day, we'll have to leave Vivian too. All we can do is cherish every moment we have with her," Skylar murmured.
The future was uncertain, and Viola's intentions remained unclear, but Skylar resolved to focus on the present.
Joe's tense expression softened as her words sank in. "When we get back to Jipsburg, what would you like to eat?"
Skylar replied with a smile, "Vivian loves that Cantorian restaurant. Let's go there."
"Sounds perfect,"
