Novice In The Workplace
The people in the meeting room were still waiting for the documents. There was no other way. Savannah Lea could, therefore, only ask for help from her colleagues outside the secretary's room.
In the room outside, there were four other secretaries who belonged to the President's office. They were in charge of the tasks assigned by the main office; mainly responsible for paperwork and ushering. Only the Private Secretary and Special Assistant of the President would be involved with the core projects. In other words, the previous "Shanee Hawkings and Nick Jonah" duo had now been replaced by Savannah and Nick.
"Hello, seniors. May I ask which document the President requires for today's meeting?" Savannah asked.
The four secretaries exchanged glances and smiled. "Hmm, we don't know. We're only responsible for external affairs, so we've never been in charge of such important matters. Besides, hasn't Secretary Hawkings already handed over to you? She is very cautious. She must have told you where the documents were. You didn't remember it clearly, did you?"
These people's words seemed to make sense, but Savannah felt their hostility! Like Shanee was, they were not very welcoming of her presence.
She couldn't get help from the secretary's room, hence, Savannah had to go back to look for it by herself.
"Hmm, so you think you're incredible huh?! You're just a student who hasn't even graduated yet. How can you hold such a high position!"
"That's right. She even pushed Secretary Hawkings away. Secretary Hawkings has been with the President for many years..."
"Tsk, tsk, you know what? The President wants her because she is young and fresh! Let's see if she can still be so arrogant after a while!" The colleagues began to gossip outside.
......
The phone call from the conference room rang again. Savannah Lea was in a hurry. There were all kinds of documents in the cabinet, but she didn't know which one to take!
In the end, Nick Jonah came back to get the document.
Therefore, on the first day she started work, she had already been criticized...
After the meeting, Callan Handerson's first words when he returned to the office was to reprimand Savannah, "Aren't you super incredible? Why can't you complete a simple task like sending documents?"
"I..." Savannah argued. "It's not my problem. It's Secretary Hawkings, she..."
"Okay!" Callan raised his hand and frowned. "Don't find any excuses. If you can't do it well, then don't force it. No matter what happened, the outcome was that you delayed the whole process of the meeting. Today, there were external business partners at the meeting. Do you know that this will make the partners very unhappy?"
Savannah couldn't argue and chose to remain silent.
"What's wrong? Are you not happy being told off by me?" Callan said.
"No," Savannah replied.
"Get on with your work!" Callan scolded her. Looking at her drooping head, he faintly regretted, the young girl had only joined the workforce today, wasn't he too strict with her? Well, there was nothing he could do. Not everyone could be a good private secretary to him.
Savannah returned to her desk silently. Since she was not familiar with her job, she had to get familiar with it first and go through all the standard procedures. Then, she found that the jobs waiting for her were absolutely endless. With her estimation, if she wasn't efficient enough, there would be no hope of her getting off work today.
It was not until noon that she finally came up with some ideas.
Callan and Nick went to a business lunch together. Since it was her first day and there were a lot of things that she hadn't learn about, they didn't take her with them. The secretaries from the office outside had also gone to have lunch, and Savannah was left alone working away.
Just when she noticed that she was hungry, the secretaries from outside had already finished eating and returned. She vaguely heard them talking and laughing.
Savannah felt strange, how could the secretaries of the President's office at D.S Corporations be so free and have nothing to do?
"Seniors, are you all done with your work?" Savannah was curious and went out to ask. She wanted to head out for a meal too.
It was another scene of these people exchanging glances with each other, which completely excluded and isolated Savannah.
"Yeah! We're done with our work."
"That's fast!" Savannah exclaimed. The secretaries made it sound like they were very proud. She nodded in admiration and thought that they must all be very efficient. It seemed that she was too slow and obviously a newcomer. She knew she had to work much harder.
"Where are you going, Secretary Lea?" Someone pretended to be concerned and asked her.
"I haven't eaten yet," Savannah replied.
"Yo!" One of them exaggeratedly raised his hand to look at his watch and sighed. "What should we do? The lunch break is over. It's time to work. I'm afraid that you can't leave now, Secretary Lea."
Savannah looked at the time and it was indeed two o'clock. What should she do? She was so hungry! Since it was the first day she started work, she was so excited she didn't eat anything in the morning either.
While she was hesitating, the door of the office was pushed opened and Callan had returned with Nick.
The secretaries immediately sat back in their seats and pretended to be busy. Savannah was surprised. Didn't they say that they were done with work just now?
Seeing how Savannah was standing at the door, Callan looked at her with concern. "What are you doing here?"
Since her boss had returned, how would she have the courage to leave work for lunch? She had to press her stomach and say, "It's okay. I'll go back to work now."
As she said this, she turned around to her desk with a distressed face. Seeing all the piled up documents, Savannah wished she had some magical skills to help her. Plus, she now had to worry about her empty stomach, would she be able to stand it until the end of the day?
The working hours of the high-ranking executives were from 10 am to 5 pm. But obviously, Savannah couldn't leave work at five o'clock today.
Five o'clock had passed, and all the people in the secretary's office outside had left. Savannah was left alone with Callan in their office. At six o'clock, he had also finished his work.
Callan saw that she had been busy at her desk all day, so he'd only had time to ask her now. He walked to her desk and sat down at the edge of the table. He picked up a document to look through it. As he read it, he noticed something was wrong.
"What have you been busy with all day?" Callan asked.
President Handerson felt that it was necessary for him to give some tips to this rookie in the workplace.
"Huh? I was sorting out the documents!" Savannah couldn't even raise her head from how occupied she was.
Callan sneered and said, "You must be a good student who likes to take notes at school."
"..." Savannah raised her head and looked at Callan. "What do you mean?"
"What do I mean?" Callan sneered, "I say you are stupid!"
"You!" Savannah widened her eyes, she was angry. How on earth could this person say that to her? It was difficult enough to be at work on the first day, why was he still picking up on all her flaws?
"Hm!" Callan threw the document back to the table and pressed his slender fingers on the folder. There was no trace of exhaustion on his handsome face that showed he had been busy for a whole day. "Didn't you assign work to the secretary's office today? Why are all the things I gave you still piled up here?"
"..." Savannah nodded. Was there anything wrong with this? It was definitely not because she was slow, it was the fact that he had handed her to do too many things!
