Chapter 7 Cheerleading and Chances.
The following week, things between Maya and me had started to get back to normal. We were laughing together, hanging out, and catching up on all the fun we had missed. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
One afternoon, as we were sitting on the grass outside the school, Maya turned to me with a mischievous grin. "Jess, I've got an idea."
I raised an eyebrow, curious. "Oh? What kind of idea?"
She leaned in closer, her eyes sparkling. "Let's try out for the cheerleading squad for the Ashwood lacrosse team."
I blinked, taken aback. "Cheerleading? Really?"
Maya nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! Think about it. It'll be fun, and it's a great way to support our school. Plus, Sam is on the lacrosse team. Maybe if he sees me cheering him on, he'll change his mind about us."
I couldn't help but laugh. "Maya, you're incorrigible. But okay, let's do it. I've never tried cheerleading before, but it sounds like a blast."
