Chapter 37 The Forest of Secrets.
The forest was dense, the towering trees casting long shadows under the pale moonlight. Elsa and I moved as quietly as we could, careful not to snap any twigs or disturb the underbrush. The hunters were still out there, somewhere, and we couldn’t afford to leave any clues that might lead them straight to us. My senses were on high alert, the new werewolf instincts that I was still getting used to sharpening every sound, every scent around us.
Elsa walked beside me, her face pale but determined. She had been strong throughout the chaos, but I could see the fear in her eyes. It mirrored the same fear that gnawed at me. Noah was out there, wounded and in danger, and we had no idea where the rest of the pack was hiding. The thought of something happening to him made my chest tighten with worry—and something else, something I couldn’t quite name, but that made me uneasy whenever I looked at Elsa.
