Chapter 4: Are You Really Not Afraid of Me?

　　“Mrs. Sloan, Mr. Sloan is waiting for you in the car.” 　　Vernon patiently repeated. 　　Lainey was still in a daze, not knowing what exactly Winfred wanted to do. Yet in order to not make a fool of herself in front of these groups of reporters, she could only obey and follow Vernon back to the car. 　　Having already put away the laptop, Winfred was sitting in the back seat of the car with his legs crossed at this time. Lainey gasped as soon as she got on the car and saw his face. 　　Last night, the lights were dark and she did not dare to look at Winfred. Pigs flew! 　　Winfred cast a cold warning glance at Vernon in the rear view mirror, and Vernon wisely shut up. 　　“Mr. Vicente Sloan said you have a hard time living alone and asked me to be more considerate of you and be good to you. I’ve promised him. At least, Lainey was simple and easy to be controlled. For this reason, Winfred decided to keep her in the Heyday Mansion. 　　“Please go ahead!” 　　Lainey’s eyes lit up. 　　She could stay! Then the Warren family could be saved! And her mom could be saved! 　　“Firstly, whatever my father asks you to do, you must report to me. However, when she was about to push the door open after taking the key and unlock it, the dialogue coming out of the house made her fell cold all over. 　　“Dad, that bitch hasn’t come back for so long. Has she been killed by Winfred?” 　　This was the voice of Jayda Fletcher, the daughter of the housekeeper, Estelle Fletcher. 　　“It’s just as well that she’s dead! Then I don’t have to do anything! Anyway, now that the money from the Sloan family is in place, she has no use. And I don’t need to pay for her mother’s treatment if she dies.” 　　The voice! 　　Blood drained off Lainey’s face. 　　She took so much humiliation from Winfred last night just for the sake of the Warren family, but what happened? How could it be like this?” 　　A black Maybach slowly followed Lainey in the heavy rain. 　　Winfred sat in the car and watched quietly. 　　In the morning, Lainey had been tough and stubborn. But now, she was like a beast that had lost her mother’s care, holding herself alone and licking her wounds in the rain. 　　“Mr. Sloan, Miss Warren doesn’t look well.” 　　After the morning’s contact, Vernon had already liked Lainey in his heart. Now seeing her like this, he couldn’t help but feel heartbroken, “Shall we ask her to get into the car?” 　　Taking a glance at the bakery that was less than fifteen meters away from Lainey, Winfred narrowed his eyes slightly. “Drive over!”
