Elodie listened, her brow furrowed. ‘Is that my fault?’
She hadn’t realised that her care and affection for her cousin had been perceived as charity.
Shaking her head in resignation, she knew there was no point in further discussion.
Some wounds ran too deep to heal with words alone.
‘Leave,’ Elodie said. ‘And never come back.’
Vivienne glared at her, but she didn’t say anything.
Slowly, she clambered to her feet and ran into the darkness.
Elodie watched her leave.
She was kind of disappointed that Vivienne had given up so easily—she’d been itching to try out the stun field generator Oliver gave her.
