Chapter 107
SUZIE’S POV
My bare feet hit the dirt filled floor as I ran. My arms brushed against branches, a sharp sting on my arm, but that was the least of my problems. Darkness shrouded me, heightening my fear. I had no idea what I was running from, but all the hairs on the back of my neck told me that the entity that was after me, was a dangerous one.
And I needed to run as fast as I could.
My legs burned with pain, but I knew that if I stopped, it would be the end of my life. Footsteps began to resound behind me and my heart almost escaped through my mouth. With my laboured breathing, I kept running as swiftly as I could, despite how tired I was getting.
“Please, please, please, I can’t die here now,” I muttered as tears began to crawl down my cheeks.
The tall trees seemed to taunt me as their branches swayed and the rustling of their leaves seemed to sound like subtle whispers, whispers that mocked my futile attempt to escape the entity that was hot on my heels.
