Chapter 610
Queenie had only just gotten home from her grocery run when the rain poured down. She watered and added fertilizer to the jasmine on the balcony, then got started on dinner.
At that moment, Joey dropped by. She had picked Jackson up from kindergarten and bought strawberry cake along the way. She got Queenie one, too.
"Mia hasn't been bothering you these days, has she?" Joey asked as she set the cake down. Jackson had bounded off into the living room to amuse himself with his toys.
Queenie invited Joey and Jackson to stay for dinner. She was making pasta and salad tonight. Never one to be idle, Joey washed her hands and helped Queenie with the salad. They worked fast, and it didn't take them long to cut up the salad ingredients.
"No, but I bumped into her at the mall while I was on a delivery run this morning," Queenie answered, tossing the ingredients into the salad bowl and drizzling on a generous amount of olive oil. "Did you hear about the line of work she got into?"
