"It's pouring out there. Can't you just talk to her right here?" Bree muttered, earning a glare from Zack.
"Mom, didn't you say you were making tacos? Let me help you out," Conrad said, breaking his silence to lighten the mood.
I quietly followed Chris outside. He was waiting at the door with an umbrella.
Honestly, if he had something to say in private, we could've just found a room inside. We didn't need to go out into the rain, but he probably had his reasons. Either way, I didn't bother asking what they were.
"Are you cold? Want me to get you a jacket?" Chris asked.
I had to admit he'd been more considerate and attentive than before ever since we went our separate ways, but it was all too late.
"No, thanks," I said, taking the umbrella from him and stepping into the rain.
