I continued Chris' sentence with a smile, "Don't tell me you mistook her for me."
"I—" Chris started to speak.
But I cut him off, "Chris, you hardly ever kissed me."
He grimaced. In the three years we were together, we held hands and cuddled, yet we rarely shared a passionate kiss.
When he did kiss me, he would kiss my hand, cheeks, or forehead. Even if he did kiss me on the lips, it was always barely a peck.
My statement left him at a complete loss for words, but it also irritated him. He suddenly let me go and ran his hand through his hair. "Yes. I made a mistake and kissed her on impulse, but it meant nothing."
"Will it only mean something if you sleep with her?" I mocked.
Chris' frustration boiled over. "Am I really that vile to you? If I were that kind of person, I would've slept with you a long time ago. It would never have come to this."
I was taken aback, then I laughed.
Did he mean I wouldn't have kicked up a fuss in this situation if we had slept together?
